The 2003 Music City Bowl was actually the very first public appearance of Auburn Elvis.
A follow Auburn fan, Denver, and I took off from work and drove over to Nashville for the game (we both live in Chattanooga, it was a pretty short trip for us). The game was great. Auburn won, and I got on national TV (ESPN). Also, I learned a critical lesson that day: wear sunscreen. Even though it was December 31st, it was bright, sunny, and hot, hot, hot. For days, I sported a plunging “V” shaped sunburn on my chest. But it was a small price to pay for infamy.
I actually don’t have any pictures from that game. I was so busy living in the moment, I forgot to have Denver take a photo. Oh well, maybe some fan from that day who got their picture taken with Auburn Elvis will email me a copy.
