Man, the day started off well for the SEC with Tennessee gutting out a win against a Wisconsin team that always gives it’s best during bowl season. I mean seriously, they could be playing in the Flea Market Montgomery, It’s Just Like a Mini-Mall Bowl and the Badgers would still be thrilled to be there. Which, considering they live in Wisconsin, is understandable.
At this point, I began to hope for the Holy Grail of Bowl Season: an SEC Sweep.
Arkansas couldn’t keep up their end of the deal. But who can blame them. With all the problems that place has inflicted on itself the past two years, we should have applauded them for just getting on the correct plane for Dallas. How much more of a fluke does that LSU win seem now?
I really didn’t think Michigan could stop Florida’s spread offense. Also, I though Florida would at least SLOW DOWN the Wolverine’s running attack. But I (and most of the country) were wrong on both accounts. Did anyone besides Tebow and Harvin suit-up for the Gators? I think Urban Meyer’s ideal team would consist of about 6 or 7 guys on the roster - total. Once he recruits a center who can block 5 guys by himself and a receiver who can run 4 different routes simultaneously, he’s set.
How - Bout - Them - Dogs?
Georgia made a great case for why there should have been an all-SEC, BCS Championship game. The most infuriating comment I heard from the announcers: “It’s a shame folks aren’t getting to see what this Hawaii offense is capable of.” I disagree. I think America got to see EXACTLY what the Warriors were capable of… against a good defense. Heck, even Auburn’s 116th-ranked offence hung 20 on the Dawgs. All the past (and future) jilted undefeated teams just gave a collective and sarcastic, “Hmmm… thanks a lot, Hawaii.”

Never saw the Michigan win coming. I knew MI was better than they played this year, but I certainly thought FL had the better talent match up. You are right that the team just didn’t show up. Good win for MI.
I don’t think any self respecting sports journalist thought HI had a chance, but broadcasters are a different story - they’re there to sell the story and convince viewers that there’s going to be a real fight to the finish (see USC v. IL for details).
