Well, the Tigers played tough, falling to the Wildcats by three. It’s no exaggeration to say Auburn easily could have won that game. With 35 seconds left, Auburn was down by 6. But, after an Auburn 3, a Kentucky turnover, and an Auburn lay-up, it was only a 1-point game. Auburn proceeded to trap on the inbounds - almost forcing another Kentucky turn-over. The Kats lobbed the ball the length of the court, only to be fouled, immediately. Kentucky only hit one free throw, leaving Auburn to bring the ball down with 12 seconds left, only 2 points down. Auburn’s DeWayne Reed threw-up a hurried 3-point-attempt - which missed badly. But had it hit, Auburn would have stunned Kentucky-nation.

The night was much more successful for Auburn Elvis. A nice lady with “Tiger Roar” (a quarterly all-sports magazine that is distributed to Tigers Unlimited donors), snapped a few pictures of me. I was, of course, stopped continuously for fan photo ops. I met one of the War Eagle Reader guys (I think it was Jerry?) and his cute little daughter. (His account, with photo, is here.)

Since I went to the game with my Dad, I have no photos of the game (there’s not much room for camera equipment in my Auburn Elvis suit, and my Dad forgot his camera phone. But fear not… this Saturday night, Auburn Elvis will be attending the Mississippi State game with the wife. She functions as Auburn Elvis’s handler and always bags tons of great photos.

The high point of the night was passing Coach Tommy Tuberville in the scholarship donors’ concierge tunnel. Coach Tubs reached over and said, “Hey, Elvis.” To which, I replied, “Hey, Tommy.” We shook hands, and continued on. I’m sure he’s writing in his blog right now that he met Auburn Elvis tonight.
