So, what are these worth now?

That sound you just heard was 30,000 Kentucky fans cursing. After much deliberation, the SEC has decided to hold the remaining quarterfinal game at noon, today; with the two semifinal games starting at 6:00-ish. That means Kentucky, should they beat Georgia, would have to play two games in one day. Adding insult to injury, the tournament has been moved to Georgia Tech’s dinky 9,100 seat area. SEC officials have decided that only team members and coaches’ families, school officials and the media will be admitted. So, the Big Blue Mist (many of who traveled all afternoon yesterday to get here) will have to turn-around and head home, not seeing a single Kentucky game (in person, at least). Oh well, my Dad always said that watching the games on TV is the best seat in the house.

No word yet, on what kind of refund we’ll get for the unused tickets.

UPDATE - The official word is that the SEC will issue a full refund on the unused tickets. But, the question remains if that includes the half-session that Kentucky was in.

Craziest. Tournament. Ever.
Well, the day’s action was wild. Georgia stole a victory away from the Kats with a last-second 3-pointer from a guy who’d missed all his previous shots. Then, the boys from Rocky Top failed to duplicate yesterday’s exciting come-from-behind victory as Loften’s 3-pointer clanged off the rim at the buzzer. The icing on the cake was Georgia’s victory in the historic second game in a single day. Just thrilling! It’s a shame few got to see it.

I fully expect Georgia to win tomorrow. After all, there’s no way a last-place-team could pay 4 games in four days (two of which were on the same day) and still win the tournament. Which is exactly why it’s gonna happen.

Can bloggers get a press pass?

If you have your costume on, would that qualify you as a school official (even though your school isn’t playing)?

Well, actually, we learned that all 12 schools were issued tickets to these final games. Apparently, the Kentucky fans were able to call other school officials and snag most of the unused ones. Over the past month, I’ve made some promising contacts with folks at Auburn. We’ll always wonder if some persistent (but polite) calling from Auburn Elvis would have gotten us some tickets.
