This past Saturday, Auburn’s season opener against Louisiana Tech was televised on ESPNU. However, unlike games televised on ESPN and ESPN2, ESPNU games aren’t streamed on ESPN360.com.
WHY NOT? I mean, Heck! Even the FSN games are streamed on ESPN360!
Is it because of competition with the cable broadcast? If so, then why were the games from the major channels streamed?
Is it because ESPN doesn’t have the Internet broadcast rights? If so, why not? They obviously have the licenses for the major channel games.
It just doesn’t make sense. Why wouldn’t ESPN (after paying good money for SEC games) not push them out over any distribution network available?
NOTE TO ESPN: You guys own both ESPN360 and ESPNU… figure it out.
