2009_ballstate1.jpgSo, I took this weekend off and attended Saturday’s game in my civilian ID. It was amazing how quickly I made it to the stadium. I mean NO ONE stopped me for a photo… not once. (I guess folks have their pick of photo-ops with aging, thirty-something Auburn Dads with a son in-tow.) Anyway, it was a fine weekend. Number-1-Son and I actually camped out (in a tent, no less) Friday night and tailgated Saturday morning.

The weather held off until we’d packed up and started making our way to the New Student Center for some Chick-Fil-A. We saw Aubie inside, and my boy got a big kick out of snapping Aubie’s photo. We tried to squeak in a trip to Toomer’s before Tiger Walk (#1 Son REALLY wanted a foam Auburn finger), but ended up getting delayed by the monsoon and missed the TW. Oh well, we slogged back over to Jordan-Hare and waited to be let in (a rain delay? Come on, anything less than 3″/ hour is a light sprinkle to Auburn fans).

Once in our seats, the fatigue slowly set in. As usual, we loved the pageantry & aura, and were excited that Auburn’s offense still delivered. But when my four-year-old duplicate informed me he was ready to leave at halftime, I was secretly relieved and put up no fight.

All-in-all, it was a great weekend. War Eagle!
