With reports that Auburn officials would gladly jump to the East should Missouri join the SEC, I felt the need to communicate how viemently I oppose leaving the same division as our deepest rival. Here’s my letter to the Auburn Athletic Department:
Dear Auburn Athletic Department:
Recent news reports have stated that as the SEC considers expanding to fourteen members, Auburn is interested in moving to a separate division from Alabama. As an Auburn supporter, I consider such an outcome immeasurably frustrating and disappointing. Frankly, I would sooner Auburn withdrew from the SEC than risk playing Alabama twice, thus diluting the Iron Bowl’s importance. Avoiding a same-season rematch with Alabama was a driving factor in the creation of the current SEC divisional structure, and I would be angered and saddened to see that wisdom undone. Please communicate to Athletic Director Jacobs and President Gogue my opinion on this matter.
Thank you.
I encourage anyone who feels similarly to contact the AU Athletic Department as well.
